Firefighters raced to the historic Royal Mile in Edinburgh on Thursday afternoon reports of a blaze in a tenement building.
The Scottish Fire Service received reports of the fire at 12.06pm and three engines are currently in attendance.
Police Scotland closed the city centre road.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 12.06pm on Thursday, 9 November to reports of a fire within a ground floor flat in Edinburgh.
"Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the city's Canongate, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
"There were no casualties."
